Pre-game preparation was a lot better than previous games and Fareham started the match with energy. The first half was tough with a couple of good saves by the Haslemere goalie. Once Haslemere got the ball they were swift at getting into the Fareham D, their "fitness" showed, and they scored two goals in the first half. Fareham had a number of good attacks into the Haslemere D, but their defence was strong and our forwards were typically faced with 6+ defenders in the D making shots on goal rushed and panicked. Haslemere's pressure was forcing misstakes and numerous chances to drive down the wings came to nothing.
The 2nd half unfortunately continued in a similar vein, swift moves from Haslemere left our defence open and a loss of confidence led to more misstakes and another 6 goals from Haslemere.
Plenty to learn from in this match and work on for the next.
