Match report time!
We had a slight rocky start to the game this week- 3 players were unable to make it to the match due to trees which had blown down and blocked their driveways and roads, which took us to the bare 11, and then one further player had a big leak in her house so couldn't arrive on time (good excuse). This all led to the mighty 3s starting the soggiest, windiest game we've ever played with 10 players. Hamble somehow didn't notice this at all (perhaps they were still grumbling about having to play in the negligible breeze and light downpour) and we managed to keep them at bay. They opted to defend into the breeze, meaning we were attacking unwind. Hamble scored the first goal, but Mavis scored a lovely goal to equalise. After our 11th player turned up, hamble started to cave under the pressure and Farehma remained consistent. After a very quick 2 minute half time, we restarted with the wind behind us and retained control of the game, with a second goal coming for us after some lovely play in the D. Our defence was solid, cutting out the oppositions fast runners, and the mids moved the ball up the pitch with strength. The forwards were very impressive, constantly upsetting their defence, well done to our 2 very new players!
MoM this week went to Ishbel for some absolutely fantastic defence work - great game!
DoD this week went to me for a rugby tackle mid game, in honour of the RWC final.
Thanks to the entire team for such a great game, despite the rain and wind and missing the rugby it was such a good match! Let's get another win in the bag next week!
Thank you to the umpires for turning out into the storm for us, and the kitchen for the delicious veggie feasts each week #allabouttheveg #communitysport #boxxfreshmom
