The ladies 3s faced up against Salisbury 3s in their first league game of the season this afternoon. Unusually, we started with 11 outfield players, as our keeper was feeling a little ropey, however this didn't put us to any disadvantage, and we held up well against Salisbury. Soon enough our keeper joined the game, and we played some good hockey in parts, holding Salisbury to just 2 goals in the first half. Unfortunately, the opposition continued to push on in the second half, and despite some excellent defence work with some beautiful plays in the defensive D, the opposition got a few more goals in. Hannah had 2 fantastic solo goals in the second half (the entire balcony loved the style of them!) which put us back into the game, but we just couldn't quite hold onto the game. The opposition were relentless, but we played a great game today and I certainly don't feel despondent coming into the season. We've got some excellent foundations to build on, and will soon be putting goals away left right and centre!
Congrats to DoD Lizzie for running the ball off the sideline 3 times in 5 minutes- a highly useless skill ;)
Well done also to MoM Ishbel for a blinder of a game. You were everywhere at all points and totally in control.
Thank you to our umpires Jo and Arun, and the kitchen for delish and much needed teas post game.
Looking forward to seeing you all at training on Tuesday (for a bit of fitness work!).
