Our M1's pulled off a remarkable comeback (not once but twice) in the final of the England Hockey Men's Tier 1 Plate as they reversed a 0-2 deficit to draw 3-3 with Tunbridge Wells before emerging victorious in the subsequent shootout.
After going 0-2 in the opening 1/4 but dominating the bulk of possession it took until the 2nd half for the M1's to give themselves hope; Ben Randell chipping the sliding keeper to reduce the deficit.
They then equalised in the 62nd minute with George Davey providing the key deflection from a slick penalty corner routine. A minute later (and a man down) the M1's went 2-3 behind as Tunbridge again took the lead. However, they replied instantly through Soren Golding, firing home from an acute angle after a bringing down an Ollie Pemble overhead and exchanging a swift bounce pass with Sam Ratliffe.
This result is the first time in Fareham's history that they won this prize with our last outing at National Finals being a Cup final loss to Premier League outfit Beeston in the 2020/21 season.
This is a proud moment not just for the club but also our academy section with over half the squad being homegrown!
