August 30th marked the grand finale of what has been an unforgettable year of celebration for Fareham Hockey Club’s 125th Anniversary.
The evening was nothing short of spectacular, featuring a Mark Watson–inspired presentation that brought both laughter and awe. Guests were treated to the quick wit of Tim Tavender, whose comedic brilliance set the tone for a night filled with energy and wonder.
The entertainment was truly world-class, with singers, jugglers, stilt walkers, acrobats, ribbon and hoop artists captivating the audience. All of this was hosted against the elegant backdrop of The Concorde Club, which provided a superb dinner and exceptional service worthy of the occasion.
Our mission this year was to honour this remarkable milestone by hosting a diverse series of events that reflected the spirit, history, and community of our club. The celebrations began in fine style with the Jacksons’ organising a seven-a-side tournament. What started as a special anniversary event was so successful that it will now continue as an annual fixture in our calendar – a lasting legacy of this anniversary year.
Equally memorable was the community event led by Glenda Caine, which brought people together in true Fareham spirit. While Glenda also managed to arrange a dose of traditional Scottish weather, the downpour did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm or the memories created that day – though some of us are still drying out!
On behalf of the club, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone on the committee whose dedication, energy, and teamwork made this anniversary year possible. A special mention must go to the Young family for their tireless contributions, to Chris Tagg for ensuring our celebrations were so well covered across social media, and to Adam Caine for his invaluable behind-the-scenes support. To all who gave their time, effort, and passion – whether named here or not – please know that your contribution was essential and sincerely appreciated.
Fareham Hockey Club is more than just a club; it is a family and a community bound by shared history, friendship, and love for the game. It has been a true privilege to play a part in organising and delivering our 125th Anniversary celebrations. Here’s to the next chapter in our story – and to many more years of success both on and off the pitch.
