Gwynn's late winner secures all 3 points!

Our M3's may have produced what could turn-out to be our comeback of the season, leaving it late to secure victory at #FortressFareham over a visiting Petersfield!

After a narrow win vs local rivals Trojans the week prior the M3's were looking to capitalise their newfound momentum in a thrilling Saturday afternoon contest.

It was Fareham who started the brighter, a Harry Lemon drag-flick found a defender on the line whose rebound fell kindly to Pete Gwynn to finish from close range! Lemon was in action again shortly after to clear a Petersfield corner off the line from a penalty corner but despite the early pressure both sides went into half time with the score narrowly in Fareham's favour.

Petersfield came out of the break firing on all cylinders. Some questionable defending saw a mazy run from the Petersfield forward conclude with a deft upright reverse into the Fareham net... honours even! An almost identical run minutes later saw the first half advantage reversed; a close range finish put the visitors firmly in the driving seat. They must have thought they'd put the game beyond Fareham's reach in the 55th minute, a driven shot into the bottom left corner saw the hosts with a mountain to climb and not much time left to do it! They nearly added a 4th were it not for a fine piece of goalkeeping from Joel to tip the shot around the post!

Fareham were far from done. On 62 minutes a Sam Godfrey ball into the top of the circle (which neither side could claim) found its way to Gwynn on the back post to apply the finish and reduce the deficit! 2 minutes later Fareham levelled the scores, a Ben Randell cross found its mark at the stick of Captain Andrew Hackman to turn and hit a rasping reverse finish under the diving keeper to make it 3-3 with 6 minutes to play!

With 2 minutes to go Fareham found their winner! A right sided move saw Godfrey play the ball along the baseline with Randell applying a deftest of touches to send a shot past the stranded keeper and for Gwynn to bundle in at the far post (and complete his Hat-trick).

The last minutes of the game were a tense affair, some 'professional' fouls from our M3's saw their line-up reduced to 9 men before the final whistle blew. A memorable performance from our M3's and a valuable 3 points secured!

Our M3's travel to US Portsmouth on Saturday looking to build on their positive momentum!
