Fergus Jackson selected for HiPAC

We are happy to report that Fergus Jackson has been selected for HiPAC.

HiPAC is a two day high performance assessment camp run for some of the country’s best players in the U15 and U17 age groups. National age group selectors attend the camp and then players are selected by JRPC coaches with the support of tier 2 coaching teams.

Fergus' HiPAC journey started in Haslemere when he reached JRPC, then through Tier 1 in Bristol where he gained a place in the 18 man squad for the Wessex Leopards.

Fergus has played and trained at Fareham Hockey Club from the age of 3, playing competitively from age 5.

He has been part of a very successful Fareham Team from U8 to U14 winning many tournaments including the John Wright, In2Hockey Regional’s and last season the U14 Hampshire Cup.

He has played for Hampshire U13 and U14 in an unbeaten side for 2 seasons, also playing forthe South Saxons 2 years in a row, coming runners up the first year and winning the tournament this year, where he was picked to play for the UK Lions.

Fergus would like to thank Fareham Hockey Club and all the coaches who have helped him on this journey.

Hampshire Day Success - Mens 1s

Hampshire Day Success - Mens 1s

Fareham men's 1's - 6
Havant men's 1's - 1

Despite going a goal down, Jamie Rawlings equalised with a penalty corner flick. Neil Davey then gave Fareham the lead with a strike from the top of the D that arrowed into the bottom corner. JJ then got into the act, scoring from a very narrow angle in open play.

Into the second half Fareham didn't let up and Jamie got his second from another penalty corner. Then two quick goals finished Havant off. After retrieving a 60 yard aerial, player of the season Ed Carson side stepped the keeper to slot home. The 6th and final goal came from an attack down the middle, which was passed round the keeper for Boxall to finish off.

Annihilation complete.

What a weekend!!

Not only did we have the fastest goal, but over the 20 games played at all levels a total of 88 goals were scored. Our M2's contributed 21 of those when they beat University of Southampton 4's in the Hampshire Open league knock out cup - the question being asked is how Mickey Warriner managed to let one goal in?!

Our M1's competed well indoors at Whitgift school. This was their first excursion into National League hockey for many years and Performance Director Ben Barnes was pleased with what he saw, commenting on Twitter - "Tough weekend but came out with two wins today (Sunday) with a few players missing is encouraging stuff @farehamhc #learning curve" adding  "Team led well by Ben Hibberd a successful first year in National League Div 2. @farehamhc will give it a proper go next season"

Team photograph below, which is missing JJ who couldn't make the Sunday session and stand in Manager for the Saturday games Nigel Cook, along with Steve Lemon who managed on Sunday, but also had to take the photo - well done to you all.
