Our U14's travelled to Bath to play in a qualifier for the National Finals. They were in a pool with Team Bath, Worcester and Marlow, with the winner playing at Lee Valley on 14 - 15th May 2016. Their first game was against Marlow, and although having a significant amount of possession, they couldn't find the back of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
The favourites, Team Bath, were next and we made a disappointing start, conceding two early goals. However, some inspired tactical changes by Colin Bradbury saw Fareham claw themselves back in the game and create some uncertainty not only in the Bath players, but also their management team. Goals from Phil Larcombe and Sam Stockton were not quite enough, but we came away from the game with a lot of credit, even though the we lost 3-2.
Last up was Worcester, and with the side playing with a lot of freedom we were soon up with a goal from Fergus Jackson. We then sat back a little and conceded two soft goals and now facing a battle to get something out of the game.. Sam Stockton then converted a penalty corner and a good run from Adam Shergold saw him rifle a reverse stick shot into the Worcester goal to ensure that Fareham came away with a 3-2 win.
