Junior Information

Fareham Hockey Club was founded in 1900 and is one of the oldest hockey clubs in the country. For over one hundred years the club has been a strong part of the local community and has grown in size and stature over the last twenty years. As one of the South’s most respected clubs we are the premier sports club in the borough.

Fareham Hockey club is a “Beacon Club”, recognised for its innovative approach to youth development. Our junior programme includes emphasis on fun and progressive skills development.  As a club we are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for the promotion of Hockey for all ages and abilities.

Membership

If your child is interested in becoming a member of Fareham Hockey Club please download the membership form and junior emergency contact form (hard copies are available) and return both to the Junior Secretary. The membership fee is £10.00 per year and training/match fees are £2.00 per session/game.

 

Training

For training sessions please see the training page. Training is only cancelled in extreme weather conditions. If you are not sure on which evening your child should attend training please contact the Junior Secretary.

 

Registration at training sessions

Registration takes place at the perimeter fence of the Astro pitch. All parents must deliver and collect their children to and from this point. FHC is only responsible for your child when he/she is inside the perimeter fence.

Clothing

Please ensure your child wears suitable clothing for this sport. This includes shin pads, astro shoes or trainers, and appropriate sportswear for the weather – no jeans or ordinary shoes. Mouth guards and hand guards are strongly recommended. A juice bottle is highly recommended. Please dress as the weather dictates. In sunny weather sun cream and a hat are recommended. Waterproofs for wet weather, warm clothing and hats and gloves for cold winters evenings.

 

Kit

Club kit can be purchased direct from Tempest at our online shop. Here you will be able to purchase all your kit and have it delivered direct to your home.

 

Fareham Hockey Club community work in partnership with Henry Cort

Fareham hockey club continue to work with local schools in the area offering after school hockey sessions. Participating schools for the 2008-09 season will be posted here at a later date.

chernobyl

In July of each year Fareham Hockey Club junior section plays host to 14 young children from Chernobyl. They join in with group training session and games. These children visit England each year for one month over a five year period giving them fresh air, fun and the chance to develop new friendships. To read more, click here.
